I'm Not Everything I Want to Be / Ještě nejsem, kým chci být
directed by Klára Tasovská
I'm Not Everything I Want to Be (Ještě nejsem, kým chci být) is a Czech documentary directed by Klára Tasovská. The movie looks back over the past fifty years of the life and career of Czech photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková via a fascinating montage of several thousand of her photographs and her diary entries, which she reads out herself. Portraits, self-portraits, immortalised moments, the quest for truth lying deep within nameless fellow opponents of grim Normalisation, reflections of the transformation of body and soul, black-and-white images, emotion and life in flashes of brilliant light.
The movie was premiered in February 2024 at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
“This film is as much a tribute to the artistic process and curiosities of a photographer as it is a revealing portrait of her existence, forming an unconventional but deeply moving coming-of-age story.”
